ALTFIN MEDICAL AID SCHEME OPENS UP MEDACCESS TO ALL CELLPHONE NETWORKS

  •  MedAccess is a micro-medical aid scheme targeting the previously exposed, vulnerable and uninsured. These are largely the informal sector and those who can not afford the current traditional medical aid schemes on offer. Individual households and corporate organisations can join the scheme.

CHARACTERISTICS

  • Any cell phone network subscriber will be able to register on MedAccess and registration is free. The only cost of registration is the cost of the SMS as charged by the user’s network.
  • Memberhsip identification - members will be identified by their cell phone line number
  • Faceless – communication between member and product is via the SMS platform with minimal human interface
  • Assured access – this provides assured access to critical primary care at a point of need to all citizens.
  • Affordable and flexible – premiums are affordable and payable at the members pace. Subscriptions can be staggered over a thirty day period as long as one beats the cut-off date of the 28th every month to pay the total amount due.
  • A principal member registers self + spouse and a maximum of 4 children under 18 years on one cell phone line. Bigger families will need to use an additional cell phone line to register the rest of the family. Children above 18 can have their own membership status.

APPLICABLE MEDICAL CENTRES

Registering with MedAcess will give you access to doctors and medical facilities available at:

  1. Municipal Clinics
  2. Mission Hospitals and
  3. Government Hospitals.

THE REGISTRATION PROCESS

  • Create an SMS on your mobile phone with a prefix “R” which stands for REGISTER.
  • Example: R*name*surname*D.O.B.*sex*ID number for yourself and any other dependants you want to register e.g. self, spouse and maximum 4 children. Registration of each family member is done as a seperate SMS.
  •  Net One subscribers only send to 35050
  •   Other networks send to 0716 000 001 - 3
  • A return SMS will be sent to you confirming your registration process and your membership number

 

 

RECHARGE PROCESS

  •  Buy the “MedAccess” subscription payment recharge card to pay your subscriptions equal to the amount due.
  •  Scratch off the security panel to reveal the subscription pin number
  •  Create message and enter the pin number then send to the designated number:
  •  Net One subscribers only send to 35050
  •  Other networks send to 0716 000 001 - 3
  • You will receive an SMS confirming your recharge and balance status.
  • Repeat the same process if your account is still not up to date.
    • If your account is up to date wait until after the cut-off date to recharge for the following month

 

  • You can recharge the full amount at once or you can spread your recharge over a period of 30 days before the 28th cut-off date of every month.
  • When your subscriptions are up to date for that month, you are able to access medical treatment at designated medical centres in the following month
